Holmhill Country House

At Holmhill Country House, Thornhill, we aim to provide our guests with a combination of old fashioned country house style and modern luxury amenities. We are a Bed and Breakfast Guest House, but as well as B&B, we aim to provide the facilities of a small hotel.

Holmhill Country House is on the edge of the tranquil Dumfries and Galloway village of Thornhill, 20 minutes drive from Dumfries and just over an hour from Glasgow, Edinburgh or Carlisle.

The area around Thornhill and Dumfries is full of things to do - walking, cycling, mountain biking, fishing, golf and sightseeing. The Southern Upland Way is close by. Historic Drumlanrig castle, home of the Duke of Buccleuch, is only 3 miles away. It's an ideal centre for visiting the many Robert Burns heritage sites or the striking landscape sculptures for which Dumfries and Galloway is becoming renowned; or come for one of the local arts events, or music festivals at nearby Moniaive.

Holmhill Country House stands in its own grounds of 7 acres, next to an historic bridge over the River Nith. Holmhill offers you peaceful garden space, woodlands and glorious sunsets over the nearby Keir Hills.

The accommodation includes two guest bedrooms with twin/double beds. Both bedrooms have spacious luxury en suite bathrooms.

Enjoy the breakfast of your choice in the graceful dining room. Relax in our lounge area between the guest bedrooms or in the bright and stylish drawing room. For dinner we can help our guests with recommendations and provide transport for local venues. We can also provide dinner at Holmhill by prior arrangement (view menu here).
